This is the 4th evaluation lab on uncovering plagiarism, authorship, and social software misuse. PAN has been part of the CLEF conference in Padua, Italy, on September 20-23, 2010. Evaluations commenced from January till June in the two tasks shown below.

Plagiarism Detection

Given a document, is it an original?

This task incorporates external detection and intrinsic detection. External detection is about searching for sources of a suspicious document. Intrinsic detection is about identifying plagiarized passages via breaches of writing style.

Wikipedia Vandalism Detection

Given a Wikipedia edit, is it well-intentioned?

This task is concerned with preventing "any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia," which defines vandalism on Wikipedia. Given a set of edits on Wikipedia articles, the task is to separate the ill-intentioned edits from the well-intentioned edits.
